In 2014 the production trend of the mechanical engineering complex was characterized by crisis tendencies contingent upon a number of limitations restraining development of the mechanical engineering complex in the Russian Federation, including technological obsolescence of certain production lines, dependence on natural resources export, introduction of sectoral sanctions restricting access to certain foreign technologies and capitals for the country's enterprises, high level of materials and energy consumption by production processes, low labor efficiency, lacking financial resources (including for research and development) and dependence on supply of imported components.
