Cross-Coupling Control in Linear and 2D Arrays

2018
Acoustic cross-coupling between array elements is a well-known cause of variation of the array performance. Cross-coupling prediction and control is an important part of the array design process especially in arrays with low internal acoustic loss level where cross-coupling can strongly affect angular and frequency response of the array. This work presents the results of Finite Element modelling of the angular and frequency behaviour of linear and 2D arrays and describes cross-coupling control techniques that can be used to alter angular and frequency response of linear and 2D arrays with uniform element spacing.
