Dynamic Simulation of Intercooled Regenerated Cycle Gas Turbines

2006
An intercooled regenerated cycle gas turbine is a high nonlinearity thermo-motive system, and its dynamic performance is decided by rotating inertia of rotors, volume inertia of volumes, and heat inertia of heat exchangers.Base on the components characteristic, the dynamic behaviors of intercooled regenerated cycle gas turbines are simulated by blocking modeling numerical method under Matlab/Simulink environment in this paper. The dynamic behaviors of intercooled regenerated cycle gas turbines are analyzed by an example, and are compared with simulation results of simple cycle gas turbines. The research result shows that the time-constant of heat exchanger is very big.The heat inertia is an important factor which affects dynamic behaviors of system, and can not be neglected in the simulation of intercooled regenerated cycle gas turbines. The time-constant of heat exchanger will affect the time of system balance and the larger the time-constant,the more the time of system balance.
