THE PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF WRF ON GHI PREDICTION IN TWO DIFFERENT REGIONS OF TURKEY

The Performance Analysis of WRF on GHI Prediction in Two Different Regions of Turkey The aim of this study is to 72 hour forecast of hourly global horizontal irradiation (GHI) using WRF model and to analyze the effect of parameterization on model performance for the two different periods including clear sky and cloudy conditions. Particularly, GHI forecast evaluation was carried out for the periods of August 20-23, 2011 as clear sky condition and May 8-11, 2011 as partly cloudy condition. Performance of the WRF model using different radiation, microphysics and boundary layer parameterization configurations was verified against ground observations.
