Genetic match-making for parrots
2016
Here, Digby discusses their genetic match-making for parrots. Among other things, he says it's exhausting work but it's paying off. This year they are on course to beat our 2009 record of 33 chicks. There has been a huge crop of rimu berries and they currently have 37 chicks, plus one fertile egg left to hatch. Their intensive efforts probably make the kakapo's sex life the most closely monitored of any species. But they would do just about anything to ensure the future of the world's weirdest parrot
