A new world of papermaking : the layered SC-paper

In this article the development of SC paper structure and the corresponding development of the forming sections have been examined. The Z direction fines and filler distributions of SC paper are mainly dependent on the forming process and on the nature of the fumish. Even with the latest gap forming technology the possibilities to control Z direction distributions are limited. Valmet has developed additive layering technology in co-operation with UPM-Kymmene. This newly developed and patented multilayering method enables independent control of fines and filler distributions without changing other important paper properties. The final result is dependent on neither the furnish nor dewatering properties.
