PERFIL HEMATOLÓGICO DE BOVINOS NATURALMENTE INFECTADOS POR Trypanosssoma vivax

2009
HEAMATOLOGICAL PROFILE OF CATTLE NATURALLY INFECTED WITH TRYPANOSOMA VIVAX Trypanosoma vivax is a major pathogen of cattle that has a considerable impact on livestock productivity. Research of T. vivax isolates is a complex procedure because laboratory animals are often not susceptible to infection and no clinical signs can be observed. In Africa, some cattle breeds are resistant to T. vivax, which may vary according to genetic characteristics, age, nutritional status, physical stress, persistent infections, and parasite strain. This study was conducted in the Clinical Analysis Laboratory at Uberaba's Veterinary Hospital, where 45 samples from crossbred cows were examined by microscopic analysis and an automatic diluter CELM DA 500. Positive and negative samples were compared, but no statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups (p<0,05).
