Basics of 3D Printing: Engineering Aspects

2019
Abstract About 30 years ago, a technologic breakthrough out of the basement of a visionary started a wave of transformation which quickly spread like wildfire across all sectors. 3D printing, also referred to as rapid prototyping or additive manufacturing, works by depositing materials layer by layer using 3-dimensional software planning and material deposition techniques and involves a series of operations from CAD conceptualization to setting the right parameters and finally producing the final 3-dimensional model of the virtual design. Today, 3D printing is becoming increasingly popular among the public. This breakthrough has the capability to fulfil the promise of a sustainable future and personally customizable environment, thus enabling this technology to be a household necessity.
