RFLP Standardization Report for DQ Beta/SstI

The DQ beta/SstI system identified the 33 fragments as shown in Figure 1 and Table 1. All bands were polymorphic except three bands–St. fragment no. 23 (3.78 kb), no. 30 (2.01 kb), and no. 32 (1.09 kb) (Table 2). These three nonpolymorphic fragments hybridized only with the DQ beta probe. Cross hybridizing bands are shown in Table 3. There are some discrepancies in fragment size through all systems. The fragments between St. fragments no. 6 to no. 9, which show cross-hybridization, show considerable discrepancies in fragment size through all systems. Seven fragments – no. 12, no. 15, no. 16, no. 20, no. 25, no. 26, and no. 28–are polymorphic and are dominantly DQ-specific. St. fragment no. 26 (2.86 kb) and no. 29 (2.22 kb) are highly associated with DQw7 (DQ“α1”, TA10+, IIB3-). St. fragment no. 28 (2.28 kb) is highly correlated with DQw1, DQw5, and DQw6.
