Progress of respiratory syncytial virus vaccine

Respiratory syncytial virus(RSV) infection is an important factor for causing illness and death in global high-risk groups, such as infants, children, and immunocompromised patients, and the elderly.As a high risk factor, there is still no safe and effective vaccine.Therefore, RSV vaccine has been regarded as one of the vaccines that needs to be developed globally by the World Health Organization(WHO). The important biological characteristics such as the structure of RSV, infection mechanism, and two important glycoproteins: fusion and attachment, active and passive immunization vaccine development, as well as some of the aspects were reviewed.
