Electrodeposition of fine zinc powder

1979
1. A study was made of an electrolyte of composition (g/liter) 15ZnSO4 · 7H2O+50(NH4)2SO4. It was established that with rise in temperature cathodic polarization in the electrodeposition of zinc powder from this bath decreases, the powder current efficiency grows, and the degree of dispersion of the powder falls. 2. With increasing current density the zinc powder current efficiency decreases and the amount of fine particles in the powder grows. 3. It was found that 65% of a powder deposited under optimum conditions is of particle size <0.06 mm and apparent density 0.40 g/cm3. The current efficiency is 78%.
