CARACTERIZACIÓN Y ESTUDIO DE LIBERACIÓN DE CURCUMINA CARGADA EN MICROFIBRAS DE ACIDO POLILACTICO
2020
In this work, three curcumin (Cur) release systems based on poly(lactic acid) (PLA) microfibers obtained by electro-spinning were developed, with concentrations of 1, 3 and 5%wt of Cur. The fiber morphology was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), obtaining average diameters between 500 nm and 2.5 μm. The chemical characterization was carried out by Fourier transform average diameters between 500 nm and 2.5 μm. The chemical characterization was carried out by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and was complemented with Raman spectroscopy, thus verifying the incorporation of Cur in the polymer fibers. Additionally, thermal characterization was performed by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), which revealed that the concentration of Cur present in the fibers modifies the crystallinity and thermal stability of the PLA. The in vitro release rates at pH of 7.4, were determined by UV-VIS spectroscopy at a wavelength of 420 nm and the release profiles obtained were fitted with the Korsmeyer-Peppas model. The fit results show that Cur diffusion and degradation of the polymer matrix are the main mechanisms involved in drug release.
