Bioinformatics analysis of the gender-specific candidate gene of Schistosoma japonicum

2014
Objective To analyze the gender- specific candidate gene of Schistosoma japonicum, SJCHGC06309(accession number: AY813032), by bioinformatics methods, so as to lay foundation for the further research of the gene. Methods The male- specific candidate gene of Schistosoma japonicum,AY813032, was selected by digital differential display(DDD)method. The characteristics of the open reading frame(ORF), cellular localization and protein sequence of the gene were analyzed by the bioinformatics software. The structure and functions of the gene were predicted. Results The AY813032 protein were encoded by 287 amino acids and belonged to the Cwf15/Cwc15 domain family. It was localized in the nucleus. It had 8 phosphorylation sites. The theoretical pI was 5.10. The molecular weight of the protein is 32.17 kDa. It was highly conservative between Schistosoma japonicum and Schistosoma mansoni. Conclusions The AY813032 gene is the gender- specific candidate gene of Schistosoma japonicum, which may be involved in the sexual development.
