Las actividades de la industria petrolera y el marco ambiental legal en Venezuela. Una visión crítica de su efectividad

2010
The oil and natural gas exploitation has specific environmental effects that depend on the location of the sites and techniques used to extract the raw products. The prevention and control of environmental impacts generated by activities in the oil industry is one of the main problems facing the Venezuelan society, hence the existence of a legal framework governing such activities in order to minimize damage to the environment is essential. This paper is an analysis of the valid environmental legal framework in Venezuela, related to the oil industry, indicating the strengths and weaknesses of the legislation in order to improve the knowledge of the Venezuelan environmental law and contribute to the inclusion of environmental aspects in decision makings for economic and social development in a context of sustainable management of energy resources of the country and the world.
