Myasthenia gravis concomitant with subclinical thyroidism illness

Objective To study the clinical characteristics of myasthenia gravis concomitant with subclinical thyroidism illness.Methods A retrospective study was conducted of 31 patients of myasthenia gravis concomitant with subclinical thyroidism illness among the 508 patients of myasthenia gravis diagnosed at the General Hospital of General Staff from Jan 2009 to May 2010.Results Myasthenia gravis concomitant with subclinical thyroidism illness involved more females and ocular muscles.Age was not a relevant factor.The mean TSH of MG concomitant with subclinical hyperthyroidism was above that of MG concomitant with subclinical hypothyroidism.Conclusion The organ specificity of myasthenia gravis concomitant with subclinical thyroidism illness is eye muscles.Females are more sensitive.MG concomitant with subclinical hypothyroidism is more serious than when concomitant with subclinical hyperthyroidism.TPOAbs have influence on the disease.
