Miembros de un circulo de investigaciones comunitarias formado por padres y madres inmigrantes de origen Latinoamericano de un centro cultural en el noreste de los Estados Unidos, recurrieron al metodo de investigacion de accion participativa propuesto por el sociologo colombiano Dr. Orlando Fals Borda, y a los conceptos de educacion humanizante y dialogica del educador brasileno Dr. Paulo Freire para realizar un estudio de caso. El grupo investigo el abuso de la Policia Migratoria contra familias inmigrantes. Asi, se leyo tanto a Freire como a Borda, los integrantes del grupo aprendieron el metodo, disenaron el instrumento, aplicaron las entrevistas a profundidad, y codificaron las mismas. Como resultado, el grupo encontro que el sistema educativo publico, tanto docentes como administrativos, desconocen la realidad social, y la violencia institucional de las que son victimas sus familias y estudiantes. Encontro que el sistema escolar no supo dar solucion a este caso por no contar con recursos adecuados. La investigacion indica que la victima se encuentra en un limbo institucional por politicas publicas que no le permiten sanar de esta experiencia. Por tanto, el grupo propone los principios de Freire, para influir en el diseno de politicas publicas educativas que trabajen con comunidades inmigrantes. Members of a community research circle formed by immigrant parents of Latin American origin from a cultural center in the northeast of the United States, resorted to the participatory action research method proposed by the Colombian sociologist Dr. Orlando Fals Borda, and to the concepts of humanizing and dialogic education of the Brazilian educator Dr. Paulo Freire to carry out a case study. The group investigated the abuse of the Migratory Police against immigrant families. Thus, both Freire and Borda were read, the members of the group learned the method, designed the instrument, applied in-depth interviews, and coded them. As a result, the group found that the public educational system, both teachers and administrators, are unaware of the social reality and the institutional violence of which their families and students are victims. He found that the school system could not solve this case because it did not have adequate resources. The investigation indicates that the victim is in institutional limbo due to public policies that do not allow her to heal from this experience. Therefore, the group proposes Freire's principles to influence the design of educational public policies that work with immigrant communities.
