On-line Estimation of Permanent-magnet Flux and Temperature Rise in Stator Winding for PMSM

In order to ensure the reliability of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), it is necessary to monitor the permanent magnet (PM) flux linkage and temperature rise in stator winding online. The stator currents, permanent magnet flux and stator resistance are selected as state variables to construct an Extended Kalman filter (EKF1) to estimate the PM flux linkage and the stator resistance, and the temperature rise of the stator is indirectly estimated. In addition, another Extended Kalman filter (EKF2) is constructed for estimation of inductances to reduce the identification error dramatically with the operating condition variation. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the estimation method.
