Magnetic studies of (Y1 − xNdx)(Fe1 − yCoy)11.5Mo0.5N alloy powders

1995
Abstract The substitutional effects of Nd in (Y 1 − x Nd x )Fe 11.5 Mo 0.5 N and Co in Y(Fe 1 − y Co y ) 11.5 Mo 0.5 N alloy powders have been studied. In the case of Nd replacement, it was found that ThMn 12 -type structure is maintained in the alloy to x = 0.2 and the anisotropy field of the nitrided powders was improved by about 18% from 26.9 kOe (without Nd substitution) to 31.6 kOe (with Nd substitution). In contrast, in the case of Co replacement, ThMn 12 -type structure persisted in the alloy to y = 0.4. Curie temperature and the magnetization instead of anisotropy field were improved by Co partial replacement. The magnetization achieved the highest value of 162 c.m.u. g −1 in the alloy with y = 0.2 after nitrogenation.
