Multicriteria Problem of Wireless System Design Using Tricriteria Approach with Qualitative Information on the Decision Maker’s Preference

This paper addresses the multicriteria problem of choosing a rational solution when designing complex devices on the example of integrated radar and communication system (IRCS) operating in a changing environment. The mathematical model is built as a multicriteria system for making optimal decisions, with particular criteria being divided into three subsets characterizing “costs”, “efficiency” and “reliability”. A “design-action” approach is proposed, in which weighting coefficients of particular criteria relative importance are assigned within each group independently at the design stage of the device. Further, in the process of functioning (operation) of the technical system, based on the results of the environment analysis, relative importance between the three gropus of particular criteria is automatically determined and optimal functioning parameters are calculated. Relative importance weights, both at the design stage and at the action stage, can be assigned as exact values or calculated on the principle of a guaranteed result using the user’s qualitative preferences.
