Haloperidide is a very potent neuroleptic which belongs to the class of butyrophenones. The crystals were obtained by evaporation of a solution in ethanol. The space group was determined from Weissenberg photographs. The cell dimensions and intensities were measured with a Nonius CAD-4 automatic four-circle diffractometer. The experimental conditions are given in Table 1. Lorentz and polariza- tion factors were applied but no corrections were made for absorption, The structure was solved by direct methods with MULTAN (Germain, Main & Woolfson, 1971) and refined by full-matrix least squares with the X-RAY program system (Stewart, Kruger, Ammon,
