KAJIAN SPASIAL VARIABILITAS KARAKTERISTIK GELOMBANG LAUT DI PERAIRAN SELAT MAKASSAR
2019
oseanografi perairan Selat Makassar.
model gelombang generasi ketiga, Model MIKE 21 Spectral Wave. Studi
NiAƒÂ±a, pengamatan tren tinggi gelombang selama 1 dekade, peninjauan terhadap
model adalah data angin prediksi ECMWF setiap 6 jam selama periode 2006 A¢i?½i?½
2015 sebagai input utama energi pembangkit gelombang. Domain model
disesuaikan dengan konfigurasi angin dalam ukuran grid seragam yaitu 5A¢i?½i?½x5A¢i?½i?½
batas-batas lokasi 1,000 LU A¢i?½i?½ 3,980 LS dan 116,150BT A¢i?½i?½ 120,300BT dan 15
stasiun pengamatan.
memberikan peluang terjadinya gelombang.
The Makassar Strait waters are located between the islands of Borneo and
Sulawesi Island and connect the Sulawesi Sea in the north and the waters of the
Java Sea in the south. These waters have unique natural conditions with diverse
topography. Oceanographic conditions in the Makassar Strait waters are
influenced by oceanographic dynamics inside and outside the strait. Climate
systems with wind patterns that follow the monsoonal system and the El NiAƒÂ±oSouthern Oscillation (ENSO) system also influence oceanographic dynamics of
the Makassar Strait waters. Increasing the intensity of ENSO can cause extreme
weather, high waves and the intensity of transport of water masses with high
current speeds. High wave potential can occur in these waters and usually occurs
in the western season (December, January, February) and in the eastern season
around July and August.
This research was conducted to examine spatially the variability of the
characteristics of ocean waves in the Makassar Strait waters by utilizing the third
generation ocean wave model, the MIKE 21 Spectral Wave Model. The study was
conducted by observing the seasonal variability of the characteristics of ocean
waves in the Makassar Strait waters under conditions with and without El NiAƒÂ±o -
La NiAƒÂ±a influence, observing wave height trends for 1 decade, reviewing factors
that influence the variability of wave events and seeing their relation to
Indonesian throughflow. The data used as input model data is ECMWF prediction
data every 6 hours during the period 2006 - 2015 as the main input of wave
generator energy. The domain model is adjusted to the wind configuration in a
uniform grid size of 5'x5' which is considered sufficiently representative of the
bathymetry condition of the Makassar Strait waters with location boundaries of
1,000 LU A¢i?½i?½ 3,980 LS and 116,150BT A¢i?½i?½ 120,300BT and 15 observation stations.
Based on the results of the study, it shows that the significant wave height
in normal conditions (1996) was lower than at the time of the El Nino (2015) and
La Nina (2008) phenomena. Significant wave height in the middle waters of the
Makassar Strait when the El Nino and La Nina phenomena occur, the highest Hs
are observed in July (east season), whereas in the year without ENSO influence,
high waves occur in the west season which tends to follow the monsoonal pattern
according to type local climate. The maximum significant wave height tends to
occur in the waters of the west, the middle and the southern part of the Makassar
Strait with the average occurrence observed in the middle of the year precisely inix
the period of June, July and August (east season). For coastal studies, the
maximum wave height fluctuations tend to be uniform. Significant wave height
fluctuations and surface current velocities at the study stations that correspond to
the location of the insitu current velocity measurements indicate that the
conditions of surface current velocity and significant wave height that occurs, has
a very low relationship, but a focusing effect can occur which can provide
opportunities for waves. This because there is always a surface current flow in the
middle waters of the strait that consistently flows north to south along the year.
Characteristics of straits with various topography allow for eddy currents to occur.
