Linearized Model of Power System with Synchronous Generator, Variable Renewable Energy Generation and Load

2019
Linearized models of single machine infinite bus systems have been widely used for evaluation of small-disturbance rotor angle stability and design of excitation system of synchronous generators (SGs). However, to design controllers for conventional SG and Virtual Synchronous Generators (VSGs) in a future grid where variable renewable energy (VRE) is largely penetrated, a new linearized model including VRE is indispensable. In this study, a linearized model of a power system with an SG, a VRE-type generation and a load was derived considering bus voltage fluctuations due to VRE. This paper describes the model and consideration of the bus voltage fluctuations.
