Microwave-based Wireless Power Transfer using Beam Scanning for Wireless Sensors

2019
In this paper, it shows simple method to find the wireless sensor nodes for efficient Microwave-based Wireless Power Transfer(MW-WPT). The beam scan method scans the effective charging area through the previously defined beam-steering look-up-table related on the physical characteristics of power transmission antenna. During the beam scan sequence in the power transmitter, the wireless sensor nodes in effective charging area communicate the power reception sensitivity to the power transmitter. As a result, the power transmitter recognizes the positions of the wireless sensor nodes and make the beam steering schedule to sequentially charge target devices. The characteristics of power transmission antenna has been analyzed by using some simulation results. The performance of the beam scan method has been verified through practical experiment.
