A carbon monoxide removing catalyst is activated by the removal of the carbon monoxide oxidation of carbon monoxide mixed gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide with a catalyst for removing an inactive gas or hydrogen gas containing less than 50% by volume of hydrogen-containing gas remaining inert gas is not contacting the inert gas, thereby performing activation.
