Charging Current Control Strategy During Mode Switching for HEV with Battery Connected to DC Bus Directly

The paper deals a high efficiency series hybrid electric system topology with less power conversion level. A simplified energy topology of a series hybrid electric vehicle (HEV)with Lion battery connecting to DC bus directly. One of the major challenges in this system is to design a control strategy of the internal combustion engine(ICE)/Generator, which can give flexibility to the system to at pure electric vehicle mode and hybrid electric vehicle(EV) mode. Circuit model of the dynamic process during mode switch is also presented. Droop method is applied to the voltage control of the generator controller. Simulated results show that seamless transfer of the mode switch between EV and HEV.
