ASSESSING CONTINUED COMPETENCY: AN APPROACH FOR DENTISTRY

ABSTRACT Holding a license in a given profession does not guarantee competency. To help define criteria for periodic competency assessment of dentists, the American Association of Dental Examiners assembled a committee in 1993. In this article, the authors outline the criteria the committee established for such assessments and discuss several assessment models proposed by the committee.
