Determination of Surface Temperature and Moisture Fields of Structural Elements of Buildings by Thermal Imaging

2021
This paper analyses the topical issues of excess heat losses by construction objects. It was established that building heat losses depend on the technical qualities (density, moisture, thermal conductivity) of external building structures made of various materials. In this regard, practical methods of identifying the temperature and moisture fields of the surfaces of building materials of buildings and their structural elements in operation are of particular importance. The technical capabilities of modern thermal imaging equipment are presented. A practical example of thermographic determination and analysis of the temperature and moisture fields of a translucent building enclosure - a window is given. It was confirmed that thermal imaging diagnostics can identify not only the distribution of heat losses in the control zone, but also the distribution of moisture fields on the surface of the controlled object. Basing on this knowledge, measures are developed to reduce (equalize) them and subsequently evaluate the effectiveness of their implementation.
