A Medium-Voltage Wind Generation System Based on MPMSG and MMC and Its Fault-Tolerant

Aiming at the problem of high power and high- reliability requirements for wind turbines, a new type of medium-voltage wind generation system based on multi-phase permanent magnet synchronous generator (MPMSG) and modular multi-level converter (MMC) is proposed in this paper. The system makes full use of the modularity and fault tolerance of MPMSG and MMC, and has the ability to output medium and high voltage through the cascade of modules, and can improve the fault tolerance of the system. Based on the detailed description of the system topology, operation principle and control method, this paper then proposes a fault-tolerant control strategy based on redundant power module switching and common-mode voltage segmentation injection, and analyzes its feasibility and impact. In the end, the effectiveness of the proposed solution is verified by simulation results.
