Hydroconversion of n-Alkanes and Decalin Over Bifunctional Pt/Mazzite Catalysts

Abstract The activity of a series of mazzites dealuminated by steam plus acid treatments has been evaluated for the hydroconversion of model hydrocarbons at atmospheric pressure. Mazzite exhibits a high selectivity towards dibranched isomers in the isomerization of n-hexane and produces essentially aliphatics and alkyl benzenes in the transformation of decalin. The isomerization activity is shown to strongly depend on the balance between the amounts of framework and extra-framework aluminium.
