Thoughts on the Regulation of Adenylyl Cyclase Systems by Hormone-Sensitive G-Proteins: A Tribute to Albert E. Renold
1997
Several years ago I witnessed in New York City a play called “Six Degrees of Separation.” Its underlying theme dealt with the associations between people that are often not recognized until some circumstance, as if by magic, reveals a web-like interaction between unsuspecting subjects. I recall being stimulated by this phenomenon to the point that I began to think about my own “six degrees of separation” with others. One individual stood out in this paradigm—Albert E. Renold. In many ways I and many other scientists who knew him were influenced by the extraordinary character of this exuberant, cultured, and humane man.
