The present invention provides an array substrate and a manufacturing method thereof. The array substrate of the present invention comprises a substrate (1), a thin film transistor (TFT) layer (2) arranged on the substrate (1), a quantum dot layer (3) arranged on the TFT layer (2), and a protection filter layer (4) arranged on the quantum dot layer (3). With the arrangement of the quantum dot layer (3), the coloration insufficiency of a conventional colored filter layer is made up, and a display color gamut range is expanded. With the arrangement of the protection filter layer (4), the problems in the prior art that the quantum dot efficiency is not good, and the stability is poor, are solved.
