2012
Cave-dwelling weevils in the Nice area, France. III . Description of Otiorhynchus (Lixorrhynchus ) monoecirupis n. sp. from Monaco (Coleoptera, Curculionidae, Entiminae) . In the framework of the MonacoBioDiv programme launched by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Prince's Government, we had the opportunity to investigate the undergrou nd galleries of the Prince's palace at Monaco; ther e we have collected a number of dead specimens of a weevil closely related to Otiorhynchus (Lixorrhynchus ) grenieri Allard, 1869, from Corsica. Examination of the mal e copulatory organ shows that these specimens belong to a new species, Otiorhynchus (Lixorrhynchus ) monoecirupis n. sp. , which differs both from the Corsican one and from Otiorhynchus (Lixorrhynchus ) nicaeicivis (Gozis, 1895), which we hereby confirm as a valid species and designate the lectotype.
