Phase match orientation of crystals for frequency inversion arrays

Nova uses over 200 KDP crystals for its frequency doubling and tripling arrays. The arrays for the ten Nova beams are 3 × 3 matrices of 27-cm crystal segments sandwiched between support windows to form a monolithic structure that can be aligned for maximum conversion efficiency as a single element.
