Acetylcarnitine: On the relationship between structure and function

Abstract Acetylcarnitine chloride, a molecule with cholinergic properties, has been studied by X-ray crystallographic techniques. Results show that a portion of the acetylcarnitine molecule is in the same configuration as the functionally similar acetylcholine molecule and other cholinergic molecules.
