Experimental evaluation of the mammogram interpretation aiding tool supported by the domain knowledge ontology

The article presents assumptions, design, and results of a test whose primary aim was the experimental verification of a hypothesis stating that the use of the MammoEdit editor – a tool that uses its own ontology and the embedded knowledge of mammography – increases the effectiveness of a radiologist diagnosis. The graphical user interface of the editor was similarly assessed, as well as the rules for visualization which assists the radiologist in the interpretation of the lesions' character.
