28 GHz Side-Edge Loop Antenna with End-Fire Radiation Polarized Vertically to Substrate

A compact and simple side-edge loop antenna structure with the end-fire radiation polarized vertically to a substrate is proposed as an antenna element for phased array antennas. The single and the 4-element array antenna fabricated in the 1.8mm thickness substrate are demonstrated by showing the measured 28GHz characteristics in comparison with the calculated values.
