A negative electrode material for a power storage device includes a single-phase porous carbon material capable of electrochemically occluding and discharging lithium ions, the BET specific surface area of the single-phase porous carbon material being 100 m 2 /g or more, the accumulated volume of pores having pore diameters of 2-50 nm in the pore diameter distribution of the single-phase porous carbon material being 25% or more of the total volume of pores.
