Isolation,Identification and Phylogenetic Analysis of an Efficient Straw Cellulose-Degrading Fungus

2011
A fungal strain named as NL-3 that could degrade cellulose was isolated from the rumen of cows and sheep. The 18S rDNA gene sequence for strain NL-3 was amplified and sequenced. The results showed that the complete 18S rDNA gene sequence was 504 bp.A phylogenetic tree was constructed by comparing the 18S rDNA sequence with other relative fungus species in the GenBank database. The strain NL-3 and Penicillium decumbens strain JU-A10 constituted a branch with the similarity value as 99%.According to the morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis, the strain NL-3 was identified as Penicillium decumbens.
