An Improved Widebeam Circular Polarization Microstrip-Monopole Antenna

The beamwidth of microstrip-monopole antenna is further broadened by adding a circular perfect electric conductor shell under its ground in this paper. Using this simple method, the 3dB beamwidth of the proposed antenna is increased to about 188° at central frequency, which is 2.54 times of the classical microstrip antenna. The relative 3dB AR bandwidth of this antenna is 3.12% while the relative −10dB impedance bandwidth is 15.94%. The simulation results of this microstrip-monopole antenna are given in this paper can prove the superiority of our design.
