An algorithm for the rapid evaluation of the power function for fisher's exact test

A new algorithm is introduced for the calculation of the power function for Fisher's Exact Test for 2 × 2 tables. The algorithm restricts its calculations to a very small subset of the sample space, obtaining an accurate answer in reasonable time. The algorithm is feasible for very large sample sizes.
