An optimal pilot design based on uniformly distributed types for MIMO OFDM systems

In this paper,the optimal pilot design for MIMO OFDM system with virtual carrier based on uniformly distributed types is proposed,which adopts an LS channel estimation scheme of time domain,and the power distribution of pilot tones on each transmit antenna is optimized under the criterion of channel response of frequency domain for data subcarriers and maximizing bandwidth efficiency.A closed-form expression for the optimal power distribution of pilot tones is also concluded.Finally,simulations also show that the optimal pilot sequences derived outperform the phase shift orthogonal pilot sequences and the disjoint orthogonal pilot sequences of the equal power in the performances of the MSE and BER.
