Study on Laboratory Scale of Ricinus communis like power potential for Biodiesel Production

2009
The energetic situation in Chile and the world is getting increasingly a difficult period, one the most important issues in this process has been the sustained increase of oil prices and the depletion of oil in the last decades. Chile is highly dependent on imported energy sources; around 40% of the energy matrix is produced from oil, of which approximately 70% is imported, being dependent on other countries in this area, Chile is in a vulnerable position due to rising prices and supply disruptions. In this context it is necessary to investigate new energy alternatives, using raw materials that are renewable and sustainable over time, reducing negative environmental impacts and thus projecting starting a change in the current energy model.
