Investigating the mechanism of the ionic hydrogenation of coal with the use of 14c-tetralin

1996
Under conditions of ionic hydrogenation in the presence of orthophosphoric acid and a hydrogen-donor solvent, the liquefaction of the lignite of the Borodino deposit proceeds under milder conditions than in thermal dissolution. Experiments with 14 C tetralin showed that the solvent is alkylated by the carbocations of the coal fragments and participates actively in the stabilization of the formed decomposition products: 14 C was found not only in the oils, but also in the asphaltenes, preasphaltenes, and in the solid residue.
