We appreciate the comments of Gonzalez-Carretero et al regarding our article1 and would like to add some new insights to this issue. It is gratifying to see that their experience concerning secondary bacteremia after rotavirus gastroenteritis in infancy is similar to ours, particularly the similar typical clinical picture of this complication: a second peak of fever in young infants during actual improvement of their initial gastrointestinal symptoms.
