Layered Vaccination Strategy Study

2017
Antiviral drugs are particularly critical for control in the early stage of Pandemic Influenza. When the drug quantity is enough, the protective strategies have the prior purposes of population coverage and social balance for underinsured populations. But when the drug quantity is limited, the purpose is transferred to disease spread reduction. From the network perspective, the existing strategies in essence are trying to break the transmission networks robustness with least cost. This paper wants to study a novel strategy from the community perspective by divide the whole network into separate communities. Thus any communities between each other has few effective connections of transmission. The influenza spread will be limited into locals, with little chance to spread globally. With the mathematically described optimization problem, we take the HIV network as a demo study to illustrate our initial concepts and designs for the disease spread reduction.
