Modeling the Symmetrization of Single Phase Receivers Using OrCAD A New Approach in Teaching Electrical Engineering

Teaching electrical engineering with the help of simulation packages is essential nowadays to examine the circuit operation. The paper focuses on the symmetrization of single phase receivers that fulfill a certain requirement (power factor $\cos \varphi _{0} =\sqrt {3}/2)$. Using known theoretical equations, we compute the components of the symmetrization circuit and the capacitor bank used to correct the power factor of the circuit. Finally, we simulate the circuit and verify its symmetry using OrCAD, a program for electric circuit modeling and simulation.
