Biological Efficacy of DL－methionine and Liquid MHA－FA as Methionine Sources for Pigs

Addition of DL－methionine or liquid methionine hydroxy analogue（MHA） to methionine deficient diet increased N retention in piglets and growing pigs and improved obviously the performance of piglet， which means that the efficacy was tested in a sensitive range． The efficacy of liquid MHA compaed with DL－methionine in pig was calculated to be 65％， which is lower than the DL－MHA content of 88％ in the commercial product． Therefore， the results confirms previous extensive research in poultry on the biological efficacy of MHA in relation to DL－methionine，which was consistently found to be 65％．That is， the biological efficacy of liquid methionine hydroxy analogue （MHA） is only 65％ in pig．
