한우 암소의 유전능력평가를 위한 한우 도체형질의 유전모수 추정

This study collected the carcass traits and pedigree data of Korea Animal Improvement Association. It was intended to estimate the genetic parameters on Carcass traits for estimated breeding value in Hanwoo cow and provide directly available to Hanwoo farmers. For this study, 600 out of 4,040 farms were sampled with simple random sampling to collect over 60,000 animal phenotypes from the carcass data of 970,141 proven animals. Aand all selected data were sampled 10 times. Thus, the purpose of this study was to provide background genetic data for estimating heritability, which can be directly used by farmers. The heritability of carcass traits were 0.24 to 0.30 for carcass weight, 0.24 to 0.31 for eye muscle area, 0.31 to 0.39 for backfat thickness and 0.38 to 0.58 for marbling score. The average of heritability ware carcass weight, eye muscle area, backfat thickness, and marbling score were 0.28, 0.28, 0.35 and 0.48, respectively. As the purpose of this study was to analyze basic data for evaluating cows in general farms, the results were generated using the slaughter data of farms nationwide. Therefore, we expect that the results of this study can be directly used for cattle improvement.
