Perfil fitoquímico, actividad biológica y fotoprotectora de las flores de Aldama dentata La Llave et Lex.

2021
The dried flowers of Aldama dentata (Asteraceae), were extracted with ethanol; Phytochemical screening was performed. The presence of lactones, flavonoids, and phenolic compounds was checked. Phenols and flavonoids were quantified by the reaction of AlCl3 and Folin Ciocalteu respectively. The results confirmed that it has a quantifiable amount of these compounds, so antimicrobial activity was evaluated, using the method of dimming agar with discs, versus international reference microorganisms. The extract was active against S. aureus, P.aeruginosa, K. pneumonie and E. coli. Antioxidant activity showed % INH (inhibition percentage) of 91.17%, very close to ascorbic acid which was 95.83%, which results in a high antioxidant power, which influences the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) that was 15, classified as "high". It is the first time that phytochemical screening, antimicrobial, antioxidant and photoprotective activity of this species is reported.
