Improved prodrug for enzyme-mediated activation

PURPOSE: To provide a prodrug that is enzymatically clreavable in a significantly lower prodrug molar concentration than that of the state of the art suitable for natural or standard substrate that has been used in the enzyme analyses. CONSTITUTION: A prodrug is provided that is activated by an enzyme having a structure of the formula: S-Z-W (W is a pharmacologically active substance, Z shows a self-decomposable spacer or a bond, and S is a residue that is enzymatically Z-S linkage-cleavable with a double or more reduced Michaelis- Menten constant (Km).
